D4W COME THROUGH ON RHYTHM 93.7
Down 4 whateva was definitely in the building when Biggie aka Big Time of Rhythm opened up the show. The interview was more of a kick back session and Biggie dug deep into the roots of the music by Baba and Tami. “Coming from a musical family everyone expects you guys to come correct with the music” – Biggie says. “Why do you guys do Hip Hop and RnB when your parents did jazz and afrobeat? Baba answered saying “Jazz was the music of the time of our parents time and they found ways to imbibe the afro beat into it. What we are doing today is exactly the same – taking the beats of the times and making it indigenous. The track ‘
Africa ’ is paying homage to the motherland and the strength of the African woman. BABA has that African swing to it and I start off by saying that I am a third world child. In whatever we do we always rep where we are from – so we rep naija and
Africa in every way possible.
Turning the attention to Tami, Biggie asked what she had to offer the music industry since she wasn’t known for singing. “I am not going to say I am offering something new because that sounds soo generic, but I will say I have got my own style and interpretation of music which everyone can look forward to”. I am currently working on my album and taking my time because I am still discovering myself” |
