MORNING RIDE WITH SADIQ DABA

The country’s longest running family breakfast show had a different vibe to it when Tami and Baba showed up for an interview. More surprisingly, Sadiq who is a fan of Fran and Tunde Kuboye , asked the kids to sing one of their parents songs - ‘TIME’ . “I am not interested in whatever modern day music you people are doing now” he said, “I want t o hear TIME!”. Of course, Baba and Tami obliged and performed he first verse/chorus. The song was released by Fran Kuboye and the Extended family band on the album jisting in the 90’s and was officially the first Nigerian album to be put on CD

The album was critically acclaimed in the wall street journal and the band toured Europe and extensively, also playing at the famous Glastonbury festival. It was a pleasant reminder to see Baba and Tami reciting the works of their parents. They also spoke about their own new material and the digital released album of Baba titled DOWN 4 WHATEVA. The Extended family’s album ‘Jisting’ is a classic afrobeat/jazz fusion and is still available on line and in stores.
